Golf Physiotherapy in Frankfurt – Understand Body Mechanics, Play Longer
A consistent golf swing requires more than just good technique. Spinal mobility, hip stability, the shoulder girdle, and breathing rhythm – all of these factors influence how your body supports the swing. At the Lämmerhirt practice, we provide physiotherapeutic support for golfers – whether for addressing existing issues, for prevention, or simply to help you understand what your body is actually doing during the game.
The Method
The golf swing is one of the most complex movements in sports, requiring a combination of mobility, stability, and coordination. If any of these elements are lacking, compensatory patterns develop that eventually manifest as pain or a decline in consistency. Golf physiotherapy takes a close look at the mechanics: what is your body doing during the swing, what is it not yet capable of, and what does it need to enable you to play longer and better?
How we work
Martin Lämmerhirt is a former ballet dancer (Ballet Frankfurt), a physiotherapist, and a certified GolfPhysioTrainer. An active golfer himself for over ten years, he knows from personal experience the physical demands of the sport. He employs movement analysis, targeted physiotherapy, and – where appropriate – GYROTONIC®, breathwork, and functional training. The focus is not on the equipment, but on the body behind it.
Typical goals
Treat back pain and overuse issues, improve mobility and stability in the swing, identify and eliminate compensatory patterns, prevent injuries, and build the physical foundation for a more consistent game.

Areas where golf physiotherapy is particularly beneficial
Golf places repetitive, one-sided strain on the body – always the same direction of rotation, always placing greater load on the same side. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is something one should be aware of. Many golf-related ailments do not stem from a single error, but rather from patterns that become ingrained over thousands of swings.
We take a close look at what matters to you – and work in a targeted way to address it, whether the focus is on managing complaints, prevention, or specific physical conditioning.
Common topics we help with
Spine & Rotation
Thoracic mobility and spinal rotation – the foundation of a powerful, low-impact swing.
Hip and pelvis
Hip mobility and pelvic stability as the invisible foundation of every consistent swing – often underestimated, frequently crucial.
Shoulder girdle and arm
Mobility without tension, power without strain – for an arm movement that doesn't hinder the swing.
Back & Overexertion
Back pain, muscle tightness, and unilateral strain – assessed, treated, and addressed with a clear plan for recovery and strengthening.
Prevention & Analysis
Movement analysis and targeted prevention – to ensure that complaints do not arise in the first place or do not recur.
After Injury & Return to Activity
Safe return to the sport after injury or surgery – gradual and tailored to the specific demands of golf.
Supplementary components
